Try the routes you would use regularly rather than judging distance alone. Narrow roads, parking, accessibility and the time of day can all affect what feels convenient.

The bus operator's site has current routes and timetables. If you drive, check official traffic information, including local limits, parking and vehicle requirements.

Check the official visitor information and the airline or ferry operator for current destinations, schedules and booking conditions. Routes and journey times change; a remembered flight time is not a reliable connection plan.

Compare the dates you actually need, including the cost and practicalities of the onward journey. Travel for work, care or family can look quite different from a holiday booking.

Weather can delay or cancel services. That does not make every disrupted journey impossible, but the alternatives may be limited. For a time-sensitive appointment or onward connection, consider a buffer and understand the booking terms.

If loved ones live elsewhere, talk about how you would like to keep in touch and what travel would be manageable. Distance is a practical and personal question, not a test of commitment to Guernsey.

You might choose to bring a car, try buses or arrange everyday life around shorter trips. Explore what fits your needs rather than assuming you must adopt someone else's routine.
